Second Meeting 8/28/2013
There were several themes woven into this meeting:
Personal Branding
Students were asked to identify three words (or brief phrases) that they would use to describe themselves.
We had class introductions using our three keywords for our personal brand.
Visual Literacy
A presentation on the historic development of humans using images noted that images have become increasingly important in today's world. The mastery of using images is a key digital technology skill. A person cannot be technology literate without this skill.
Some key thoughts:
Students conducted a search for images to enhance their brand. Future assignment will be to create a personal logo.
Finally we discussed the process of group presentations (topic selection, proposing a presentation date).
- Identity/What is Your Brand?/Digital Footprints
- Visual Literacy/Effective Use of Visuals

First Meeting 8/21/2013
Our First Night was a bit awkward as we determined that "Laptop Ready classrooms" mean the instructor needs to bring his/her own RGB cable. This gave us an opportunity to start a Mind Map with 'analog' technology (pencils, pens and papers). Our Mind Map was designed to show what we know about Educational Technology.
We then took a field trip (in drizzling rain to the computer lab in Olin Engineering Building Room 127 & 128. Once there we talked a little about backchannelling using Twitter and Hashtags. Then we practiced backchanneling using an Etherpad page on PiratePad. Our class PiratePad we started this evening is here: http://piratepad.net/xEWoOlAagv
